Here is a little more information on the coins displayed on this beautiful piece:
Buffalo Nickel: Minted from 1913 to 1938, the Buffalo nickel was designed by James E. Fraser from a composite of three prominent Native Americans: Iron Tail, Two Moons, and Chief John Tree. Fraser’s vision for the Buffalo Head Nickel was for it to be a “truly American coin,” which it quickly became.

Mercury Dime: Designed by Adolph A. Weinman, the Mercury dime acquired its name from the winged cap worn by the Liberty figure on the coin’s face. It was produced from 1916 until 1945. In 1946 it was replaced by the Franklin D. Roosevelt commemorative dime, introduced only one short year after his passing.

Indian Head Penny: Designed by James Barton Longacre, the Chief Engraver at the Philadelphia Mint, the Indian Head penny was produced from 1859 to 1909. They are highly valued for their red copper luster, and are considered by many collectors to be one of the most aesthetically pleasing coins ever minted.

Lincoln Penny: In 2009, Tokens & Icons featured the 1909 Lincoln Penny to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of its minting.
